Residents from Sovereign Court Care Home recently enjoyed a fantastic day out at Beamish – The Living Museum of the North, where they stepped back in time to experience life in the North East through the decades.
Beamish is an open-air museum that brings history to life with recreated streets, traditional shops, homes, farms and vintage transport, allowing visitors to see, hear and experience what everyday life was like in years gone by. For many of our residents, the visit sparked wonderful memories and conversations as they recognised familiar sights and shared stories from their own lives.
The trip was filled with smiles, laughter and plenty of reminiscing. Residents loved exploring the historic buildings, taking rides on the vintage trams and buses, and enjoying time together in such a unique and engaging setting.
At Papillon Care, we believe that outings like these are so important. They provide opportunities for social connection, gentle exercise, meaningful reminiscence and new experiences, all of which contribute to our residents’ wellbeing and quality of life. Creating happy memories and helping residents stay connected to their communities is a key part of the person-centred care we provide.
A wonderful day was had by all, and we look forward to many more adventures together!
